Nyurba Airport is a public airport serving the urban locality of Nyurba, Nyurbinsky District, in the Sakha Republic of Russia. Its IATA code is NYR while its ICAO code is UENN. Polar Airlines is the sole airline that operates at the airport. It offers flights to Yakutsk.

Nyurba is a town and the administrative centre of Nyurbinsky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia. The town is located on the Vilyuy River, a right-hand tributary of the Lena, 846km (526mi) northwest of Yakutsk. According to the 2010 census, its population is 10,157. Although Nyurba has been settled since the mid-18th century, the town was officially founded in 1930. In 1950 it grew as a base for exploration of the nearby diamond deposits. It was granted urban-type settlement status in 1958. 40 years later, it was granted with town status, where it was classified as a town under republic jurisdiction. At present, Nyurba thrives in the production of diamonds, which also serves as the town's primary industry. Nyurba is known as the site of diamond cutting works operated by the state-owned ALROSA company and for its status as a supply town for nearby mining operations.

There aren't many tourist spots in town, but there are a number of places you can visit while in Sakha. There is the State Russian drama theatre named after A. S. Pushkin, the Sakha Theatre named after P. A. Oiyunsky, the State Academic Opera, the Ballet Theatre named after D. K. Sivtsev, and Suorun Omoloon, Young Spectator's Theatre. You can also visit the following museums: the National Fine Arts Museum of Sakha, the Museum of Local Lore and History named after E. Yaroslavsky, and the Khomus Museum and Museum of Permafrost.

How to get around within Nyurba

In addition to water ports, you can get around and out of Sakha itself by car. However, travellers should take note that the presence of permafrost makes it impractical to use asphalt on roads. Given this, roads in Sakha are made of clay; thus when rain in the region is heavy, the roads tend to get muddy.

How to get to Nyurba

There are only two ways to get in directly: via Nyurba Airport and the river port. Within the Republic of Sakha, however, passengers can be rerouted to Yakutsk Airport, which has an international terminal. Because water transport is the main means for turning over cargo, Sakha has six river ports and two seaports (Tiksi and Zelyony Mys). It has two federal roads that pass the republic: Yakutsk-Skovorodino (M56 Lena highway) and Yakutsk-Magadan (M56 Kolyma Highway). The Berkakit-Tommot railroad, which connects the Baikal Amur Mainline with the industrial centres in South Yakutia, is currently in operation. Construction of the Amur Yakutsk Mainline continues northward.
