What to see & do

Lincang City is a prefecture-level city in Kunming, southwest of Yunnan province. Yunnan is a province in southern China that borders Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam, as well as the Chinese provinces and regions of Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Tibet. As a small town trapped in a big body, many find it hard to articulate the intricacies of Lincang. It is being intersected with six large roads at right angles in the city centre; all of them are six of eight lanes. In this part of the city, buildings along the roads are all newly constructed. Shopping options in this part also mushroomed out of nowhere and fills in the vacant commercial spaces. Common attraction in this area would be the Baijiu stores and restaurants.

If you want to see the older version of Lincang, head to the southern end of the city, wherein businesses are more established, trees are taller, and people are more populated. Unlike the spacious, newer part of the city, this part of the city is crammed up with small alleyways. If you want to explore this area, you can opt to borrow or rent bicycles. Lincang is a bicycle friendly city with its wide boulevards and general lack of traffic.

Apart from the older version of the town, you can opt to while away time at the Xihe River, which flows through the north-western outskirts of Lincang. Here, you can find a park that stretches for a few kilometres along both sides of the river. The park also has a bicycle path that mysteriously remains to be empty.
