Gillam Airport is a Canadian public airport in Manitoba. It is located adjacent to the town of Gillam, and is operated by the Town of Gillam. The airport resides at an elevation of 476 ft / 145 m above mean sea level. It has a runway designated 05/23 with gravel surface at the length of 5,034 ft (1,534 m).
 
The town of Gillam is situated on the Nelson River in northern Manitoba. Occupying a total area of 1,996.34 square kilometres, Gillam is the 15th largest city or town in Canada by area. Many of Gillam's residents are employed by Manitoba Hydro at three of the province's largest hydro dams that happen to be within the city's boundaries: Kettle Generating Station, Long Spruce Generating Station, and Limestone Generating Station.
 
What to see & do
Outdoor Adventures - Canoe outfitting and wilderness white-water guided tours are offered in northeastern Manitoba's Hayes and Middle Track canoe routes. Other popular outdoor activities in Gillam are boating or fishing on the many rivers in the area. Hunters can also search for game animals such as moose, ptarmigan, and caribou, as long as they are in season. Anyone who is looking for some beach action can head off to Pumphouse Beach, just two kilometres away. The colder months bring with it hundreds of miles of groomed trails for snowmobilers. Stephen Lake Municipal Park is open from May to October for swimming, fishing, boat launching, and camping. Nearby is a convenience store that is open 7 days a week.
 
Nelson River Aquatic Centre - The centre was opened to the public in 2004. It has an indoor swimming pool that is 50 ft in length, with depths ranging from 1.1 metres to 2.8 metres.
 
Gillam Recreation Centre Arena - The recreation centre features a gymnasium, a weight room, a bowling alley, meeting rooms, a teen room, and a library. There is also an ice skating rink for ice skating, hockey, and curling.
 
How to get around
Canada's rail network, VIA Rail, operates transcontinental service and bus connections through Gillam. Bus and taxi service within the city is available.

Gillam Airport is served by Thompson (Manitoba)-based airline, Calm Air. The airport receives flights from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport in the city of Winnipeg and Thompson Airport in the city of Thompson. Another public airport in Gillam is Gillam Water Aerodrome, located 1.9 kilometres east of the city. Due to its location between Thompson and Churchill on the Hudson Bay Railway line, Gillam also receives limited VIA rail passenger service at the Gillam railway station.
