How to get around within Oksibil

The main cities in the province of Papua in Indonesia are not connected by road; therefore, the only practical means of transport for long distances is via air travel. Boat charter for river travel is also available, but rather expensive.

How to get there

As mentioned, Oksibil can only be accessed by air transport. However, if one chooses not to directly go to Oksibil right away, getting into the province of Papua is possible by plane – the preferred option by nearly all travellers, via its main gateways: Biak, Manokwari, and Jayapura; by boat from Pelni; and by land, via the only border crossing between Papua and Papua New Guinea on the north coast between Jayapura and Vanimo.
