You’ll find that the Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) is not only the largest hub in Sweden, but also is a key international hub for Scandinavia and Europe. Trains, coaches, buses and taxis link the airport to the capital, and you’ll find that you can traverse the 43km in 20-45 minutes depending on which mode of transport you choose.

There are over 100 direct destinations on offer from the terminals of Arlanda, and these are to cities in the Middle East, Africa, North America, Asia, the Caribbean, and all over Europe.

SAS is the flag carrier, and so operates most of the internal and international routes, but you can also fly with Norwegian Air, LOT, Thai Airways, Air France, IranAir, TAP Portugal, Eurowings, Finnair, Niki, Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and many more.

Popular destinations from Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Sweden is a beautiful country, and if you can, it is worth exploring its cities, towns and countryside destinations first. Fly up to Kiruna (KRN), deep in Lapland, and one of those places that has magic writ all over its landscape. A true winter wonderland, sledge, ski, and look to the sky for a chance at spotting the Northern Lights. If you’re more of a city-dweller, you should tour Gothenburg (GOT), Sweden’s second city, with a fantastic old town, numerous museums, and a lovely harbour.

Nearby, are cities that you can get to in two to six hours, and go for something totally different, like lying on the warm shores of Spanish Majorca (PMI), strolling the chic shopping streets of Milan (MXP), or ducking into the charming pubs, restaurants and bars of Dublin (DUB).

From Stockholm you can also fly to the furthest reaches of the globe. On one side of the world you can touch down in Bangkok (BKK), tour the palaces and temples, and then strike out to the islands on this country’s spectacular eastern coast, like Koh Tao, and Koh Samui. On the other side, there are the bright lights, lavish hotels, vast shopping malls, and the gambling tables of Las Vegas (LAS). Have a little flutter, work on your tan, and engage in some retail therapy in the city that is often referred to as ‘Disneyland for Adults’.
