Canberra Airport is an easy and convenient airport to depart from. You will find three different dining outlets, where you can sit down to eat or grab a snack. There is a newsagents where you will find reading materials, confectionary and travel items. There are also ATM machines, a Travelex booth and payphones.

Arriving into Sydney Kingsford Smith is an equally convenient experience; all the terminals have a good range of eateries if you are hungry upon landing, and there is a decent selection of retail stores if you want to pick up any last minute gifts. There is also access to free WiFi throughout the terminal, a currency exchange service, a post office, and information desks if you need advice upon exiting.
There are taxis just outside of the arrivals area, but taking a taxi is a pricey mode of transportation. The fare into Sydney costs about $45-55, and to North Sydney, around $55-65. If you decide to board a train into the city, the journey is only 13 minutes, and the most you’ll pay is $8.30. There are also public buses that serve the airport (Route 400), fares run from $2.40-4.70.
You can find car rental desks within the airport, with major brand names having desks within the airport.
Do you need a form of identification?
Yes. However, as this is a domestic flight, you can carry a driver’s license or your passport for identification. Please note: if you are an international traveller, it is recommended that you use your passport as your main form of identification.
How long should you leave to get to the airport?
Generally for domestic flights, the suggested check-in time is between 45-60 minutes. If you are travelling in a group, then we suggest you arrive 90-120 minutes before departure time.
