Niagara Falls is one of the world’s most famous landmarks but because of its nature the views that visitors get of them are very similar. Matt Quest took his drone to the top of the falls to get a unique perspective, perhaps only available to those prepared to shell out for helicopter tours of the attraction, flying above and around the top of the waterfall.
Koh Yao Noi
This video of Koh Yao Noi, a small island off the coast of Phuket, shows off the natural beauty and the local way of life beautifully. Philip Bloom controls his GoPro drone with aplomb, flying through jungles, under piers and along busy streets. He also uses the novelty of his drone to attract the attention of children and water buffalo, both interested in his futuristic device.
One of the highlights of landscape photography is getting to see animals in their natural habitat. This aerial photography from Eric Sterman in Hawaii follows a pod of whales swimming through the ocean along the coast of Oahu. The adults and child play up for the camera, spurting through their windpipes, breaching the water and smashing the ocean with their powerful tails. Humpback whales are visible in this area from December to May each year. While charter boats are available to try to see the whales, it’s often possible to see them from the beaches as they swim so close to the land.
Paris is one of the world’s most romantic cities and this camera drone footage shows off some of its best aspects. The video is shot mostly along the River Seine, showing the iconic Eiffel Tower during daylight and night time hours, as well as taking viewers on a trip through Disneyland.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3CBEfXEs5g
China has very strict controls on drone cameras and Trey Ratcliff was detained by the local police while collecting this footage of Beijing. Nevertheless, the Kiwi cameraman was able to get possibly the best drone footage taken in the country, with a mix of tourist attractions, friendly locals and city scenes. Included in the video is a shot of a mini Taj Mahal, part of the Window of the World theme park that contains replicas of many of the world’s famous monuments, including the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Uluru.
