San Marcos is a quaint college town right outside of Austin. There is great food to be found and lots of outdoor adventure!
San Marcos is a small Texas town with many different things to do. The San Marcos River snakes through the middle of town while the Blanco River is just outside of it. Kayakers, snorkelers, scuba divers, and swimmers all love it here. It's a great place to explore the outdoors, with many parks and hidden gems, like waterfalls and rope swings.
If Austin is too cerebral for you, there's always San Marcos where it's practically Spring Break year round in the rowdy college town. The local Edward's Aquifer spring feeds the San Marcos River a continuous supply of the clearest waters in the state and is extremely popular for canoeing, tubbing and rafting (thus providing the setting for Spring Break like beach mayhem). The most popular option is to get some buddies together and an extra inner tube, one for the ice chest of beer, of course, and a have yourself a good float down the ol' river.
Well, the town I haven't seen, but I really liked both the Premium Outlet as well als the Tanger Outlet. Lot of good shopping to be done there!!!
