Beautiful little town on the track up to Kleine Scheidigg. It is a half wayish point so if you can't face the rest you can hop the train here. Great for backpacking.
AWESOME spot for pristine views and beautiful hiking. Hotel Regina for great food and lovely accommodations.
Wengen is an excellent launching off point for some spectacular hiking in the alps. You can take day trips up to the top of Jungfrau, across the valley to Murren, over the mountain to Grindlewald, or even back down to Interlaken if you're so inclined. The town itself is VERY sleepy though, so you'll be glad to spend your days out and about in those other places.
I went in May 1995. Chilled mountain water flows down into spigots that line the town's quiet streets, where you can drink out of the same troughs as the fawn-colored cows with little tinkerbells hanging around their necks. Fresh meats and cheeses available at local markets. Great mountain vistas. Idyllic.
