Vitoria is one of the Basque Country main cities, along with Bilbao and San Sabastian. The city is surrounded by a green ring of parks, however the city center tends to be a bit grey. The historic town is interesting, you'll find a lot of bars and taperias. Culturally vivid, you'll see basque language everywhere, a city of clear strong convictions. Interesting stop. Part of the French route of Santiago.

I never heard of this part of Spain till my trip early this month. It was much a surprise as I loved this place in northern spain specially the Old Town. I loved the organic fruits and vegetable shops all around the old town. They call the city the Green capital of this Basque region. It also seems to be a gastronomic capital since many good eateries line the city including lots of Michelin starred ones.
