It's a good hotel with friendly staffs

It is located at the Yangon Chinatown and can be easily accessed to explore downtown and other famous places. It has comfortable rooms with AC and 24 hour TV channels. Only one awkward thing is the taste of water. It is ok with the shower but it troubles when brushing teeth. Because they get water supply from underground hard water. But they offer 2 bottles of drinking water every day. And you can take small free drinking water bottles in the lobby.
The manager and staffs are really friendly.
They have a laundry service.
If you need a taxi, the staff will arrange it for you.
A great free breakfast is offered every single day. It has options of fried rice, fried vermicelli, Shan Noodle or Toast.
There are also small restaurants and street foods which open late night and early morning.
I'll stay there again when I visit to Myanmar.

Set us up for a great start

Royal 74 set us up with a great start, great location to the China town and buzzing streets, depends on how much you love walking, walking distance to shwedagon, the staff themselves are ridiculously helpful, carrying my bags for me making sure everything in the room works and a decent breakfast in the morning, the rooms themselves are a bit small but for the price they do you well. Can’t fault it otherwise.

Still the same friendly hotel after 3 years

We stayed here 3 years and returned because we loved our experience last time and the close proximity to the things we wished to see.
The breakfast noodles were great. The staff so very friendly and honest when I overpaid and they came running to return the extra money.
This place is in a great spot if you wish to be able to walk the streets yet be close to town and the markets.

How could they get three stars? So amazing!

Situated in China town - tiny room - room not very high / low ceiling: feeling to stay more in a cage than in a room - door of the room didn’t close properly, so that light from the corridor could be seen all night - grid in front of window - fire-extinguisher (!) in room but no chance to escape if there is a fire (for me an important reason not to stay there) - bathroom filthy - hot shower was good, but when showering small bathroom was flooded - air condition worked well - sheets were old and filthy - breakfast: two slices of toast, one fried egg and a cup of tea / coffee, mandarins - breakfast in the entrance hall behind the reception, no nice atmosphere at all - hotel staff kind but not too friendly - wifi didn’t work with room code, I complained and one of the employees put in a special wifi code; internet was ok then - paid 33 $ as a special offer (!!) on booking.com - stayed in 10 hotels in Myanmar within four weeks: This was the worst one and compared with what you get for your money I felt cheated - more like a hostel, but definitely (100 % !!) not a 3 star hotel - still wondering how they could get and still have 3 stars!!!

Nice budget accommodation in good area

The accommodation here at royal 74 is good but basic for people on a budget. It has 8 floors (I was on the top floor) so it was nice and quiet. Some rooms don't appear to have a window, but mine had two small ones that you could open. It was the hot part of the year when I came, so the aircon was very welcome and worked wonderfully. The wifi is good, strong and fairly fast, but there weren't many people staying at the time I did, so may slow down with more people.
The staff are really lovely and friendly and nothing is a problem.
The area is close to everything including great street cafes and restaurants.
Don't come here if you want 5 star. I would say it is a solid 2 and a half. Great if you are on a budget.
I would stay here again.
