It is a lovely city of Veneto region, just half an hour driving from Venice. It is quite small, only 80.000 inhabitants. It is a small jewel, founded during Paleoveneta era on the Sile river, and now being a very interesting an cute site to visit. Treviso is quite a rich city and you could find evidence of this wellness just visiting it. It is well known for its wine culture and taste for good food.
Treviso is known as the City of Art and it is almost like a smaller version of Venice with ancient Architecture, cobblestone streets and little waterways and watermills running through it. It has the mos fantastic shops and restaurants too.
Water characterizes Treviso as it is intersected by the Sile River, which penetrates the intricate medieval urban web with its canals. Enclosed by the sixteenth-century town walls, the picturesque porticoed houses (from 1400-1500) almost fully preserve the late Gothic and Renaissance outer frescoes (250 painted façades, unique in Italy). But Treviso is also the capital of a wealthy province, which includes ten fascinating historic and art centers. Highlights: - Medieval Duomo - Piazza dei Signori and palazzo dei Trecento (1210) and the city tower - Piazza Monte di Pietà - Ancient houses (XV century) of Via Canova and Via Riccati
