IN STALIN TERRITORY
-walkable to Stalin museum & Fortress
-large well equipped rooms and bathrooms
-adjoining bar & restaurant with good menu - popular with locals which is a good sign
-a very competitively priced hotel provided a comfortable and enjoyable stay
-NOTE - in general this hotel is in need of an update throughout - however a recommended place for a short stay whilst taking in the local sights etc
-I enjoyed my brief stay in this hotel & visit to Gori

Very basic old Russian type hotel
Little English. Old very basic Russian style hotel.
Its close to main street for eating.
Breakfast VERY basic...staff ok
Bed...so bad I put mattress on floor.

Soviet style!
The hotel has an odd layout, with no consistency in the numbering of rooms (for example, room 6 is on a higher level than room 10). My room had seen better days -- the beds were narrow and lumpy, the furniture was dark wood with plenty of visible scraps and scratches, and the carpet was amateurishly pieced together from smaller, damaged sections. There was an empty refrigerator. The bathroom was basic -- a small tablet of soap was provided along with a single towel about the size of a dishcloth. An ancient TV offered no English language channels.
There is free wifi, after a fashion. On each floor a wifi modem was plugged into a wall outlet and sat on the hallway carpet. Getting a signal from these devices was practically impossible, however. I managed to get online by sitting on the hallway stairs right next to a modem, but the signal would't follow me to my room a few steps away. Other guests tried the same method but could not get online at all.
Breakfast was rudimentary. I see that previous guests did get the tomato and cucumber that come with all meals in Georgia, but my party was not so lucky: all we got was bread, jam, a boiled egg, and nescafe.
There aren't a lot of options for hotels in Gori. I suppose this is what hotels where like in the Soviet era, so at least it's a good introduction to the Stalin museum.
