A true refuge to rest and continue exploring
Hotel le Refuge is a little gem and ideal for staying few nights to explore unspoiled nature and the breathtaking views. It is pretty centrally located and easy to reach from any point.
Staff are king, helpful and attentive. Everything is pretty basic but clean, tidy and looked after. Restaurant and the food is highly commended. Even if you choose not to stay in this hotel, you must stop here for freshly, home-made food and to enjoy the scenery from the terrace restaurant.
We where here in August for brief few night and enjoyed the experience.

DISAPPOINTING AND RUNNING
Being from this region, our disappointment during our visit to the refuge of Piedicroce was even greater.
The waitress was verbally aggressive, with particularly unpleasant and inappropriate behavior.
Such hostility is totally unacceptable in a place that is supposed to welcome visitors, and it has completely ruined our experience.
Unfortunately we can not recommend this place.
If the minimum rating were not 1 star, we would have given 0!

Restaurant in Castagniccia region
This restaurant / hotel sits right in the Beautiful Castagniccia, Corsica, an unspoild chestnut forest with lovely villages, waterfalls and wilderness. The restaurant is one of the only three places where you can eat driving above the alesani valley before tuning east towards the sea on the d 506. They serve glorious portions of meat local dishes and very nice desserts. We had expected strictly traditional food but we had a wonderful meal anyway. Good service.

A average hotel with splendid views
The Castagniccia region of Corsica is a quiet region in the east of Corsica mountains and characterized by high hills covered with endless chestnut forests, while on the ridges, small villages built in the local stone seem to watch them. This region offers peace, greenery and fresh air. For rest and walks, shade and water are everywhere. This hotel is situated in the heart of Piedicroce. The hotel has splendid views on the hills and the surrounding small villages
Next to the hotel is a restaurant with simple Corsican food. We didn’t enjoyed the food, Gnocchi with Pork is not our thing.

A wonderful Refuge
The Castagniccia region of Corsica (just south of Bastia) is a most wonderful place to visit. It's beautiful, unspoilt and full of lovely villages. Piedicroce is one of those lovely villages.
The Hotel Le Refuge Orezza is in the centre of the village. From the outside, it's a modern characterless building but the rooms overlooking the valley have most fantastic views on the hills covered with chestnut trees and the surrounding villages.
The room we had was small but adequate for 2 people. It is clean with simple and basic furniture. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is clean with WC, sink and shower.
Next door to the hotel is a restaurant preparing simple and tasty Corsican food. The service is efficient and the prices very reasonable.
The staff at the hotel are friendly.
From the hotel there are many walks to chose from which will take you through woods, valleys, villages...etc... The Tourist office has produced a very good map and all the trails are colour coded.
