Lovely Hotel, fantastic location
Stayed with friends for a weekend recently in this lovely Hotel with very friendly staff. Fine bedrooms with comfortable beds, with safe, fridge and a large empty bottle with a cold water fountain at the end of every corridor [all Hotels should take note].Great Bar and restaurant on first floor with fabulous views over the harbour, Bar does close at midnight even for residents, not great. On the other hand there was a great breakfast with plenty of choices both of hot and cold dishes. The location of this Hotel is just fantastic right on the Harbour with just a short walk to the town centre. I do hope to stay again. JPM.

AVOID - overcharging hotel
AVOID this hotel. They overcharge and then delay in resolving the refund issue. I can only guess that this approach stops people chasing them for the refund.
Several emails to resolved the issue and all we get are apologies.
BUT NO REFUND.

Perfect hotel in the heart of La Rochelle
We stayed here for 2 nights but wish it had been longer. Beautiful hotel, so clean and wonderful facilities. Our room was good, not large but adequate. The bed and pillows were super comfy.
The pool area was wonderful and so clean like the rest of the hotel!
We ate in the restaurant for the 2 nights and we were very impressed with the quality of the food.
All staff were very friendly, a special mention to Timeo in the bar area. Lovely chap and very informative about the area.
I would love to stay here again!

Great hotel - but one aspect of our room was a little disappointing
This was our first visit to Mercure La Rochelle Vieux Port. It's very attractive visually, well positioned, parking is easily available and it has a vibrant atmosphere. The staff we interacted with (Reception and Bar) were really welcoming. So why am I giving a 3 star rating? We chose a room level above standard with a pool view. While our room itself was very clean and well presented, the terrace area outside our room and overlooking the pool was in poor condition. Overall it needed a good 'wash down' but there were also several discarded cigarette ends on the terrace and, on the table provided out there, we found an overflowing ashtray. The weather was poor when we arrived, (although it was lovely on the morning of our departure) so the disappointing condition of the terrace didn't present a huge problem - but it shouldn't have been in that state which didn't fit with the overall high standard the hotel portrays. For future guests, I mentioned it at Reception when we went out for dinner but, as our stay was for one night only, I said there was no need to send in somebody to clean the terrace. We will certainly stay at Mercure La Rochelle Vieux Port again and I would recommend it - but I just felt a little let down by the condition of the terrace.

We had 2 Privilege rooms then junior suite. Everything was almost perfect..shower very slippery..you have to put towel on the floor of the shower..already reported!!
The pt dej is excellent very gd choice and very good. Nespresso ds the rooms....in short an excellent stay with pking at the foot of the hotel.
Staff efficient and friendly welcome.
Many weekday seminars make it necessary to book in advance...think about it
