Ypres is a handsome and unassuming small city in Belgium with a grand square and medieval tower. 100 years ago Ypres was the last chink in the Western Front, fought over for weeks by the Germans, British and Belgians at the cost of tens of thousands of lives. It was the setting of one of the first poison gas attacks. It was the location of Paschendaele, one of the muddiest episodes of trench horror of the whole war.
This is such an amazing town of such beauty and history, and I really can't wait to visit again!
Been here quite a few times. Never get tired of it, so much to see here, it's a beautiful city!
