Why fly with Japan Airlines


Do away with the queues at traditional check-in counters by using Japan Airline's web check-in service! JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members can simply log onto the web check-in platform with your JMB number and password while non-JMB members can do the same by entering your reservation number. You can help other passengers check-in as long as you have their passport details and email addresses. Seat assignments can also be decided during web check-in, on a first-come-first served basis. To fast-track your check-in process, print your boarding passes and e-tickets, or request for mobile boarding passes before arriving at the airport. Drop off your luggage at the Fast Baggage Counters, head straight through security checkpoints and into your seats! Do note that while web check-in is applicable to all Japan Airlines international flights, direct boarding services and mobile boarding passes depend on the rules and regulations of each departure airports. As of 2014, Sydney Airport does not offer mobile boarding pass services. If you prefer more assistance, you can still process your check-in at the designated airport counters or self-service check-in kiosks.

Baggage Allowances

Premium economy and economy travellers of Japan Airlines are allowed to check-in of 2 pieces of luggage weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb.) each for free. Fly business class or first class and you can check in up to 3 pieces of luggage weighing 32 kg (70 lb.) each. This free baggage allowance applies to passengers travelling to all locations except for passengers travelling to/from Brazil connecting from/to Japan (on Japan Airlines operated flights) within 24 hours. If you happen to belong to this group of passengers, you will be entitled up to 32 kg baggage allowance. However, should you need excess luggage space, you can purchase them during your online reservation or at designated Japan Airlines airport counters. Excess baggage is priced according to destination routes. If you need to check-in bulky baggage or musical instruments, it would be best to consult with Japan Airlines international reservation in advance as space in the cargo compartments are limited.


Japan Airlines economy seats not only feature plush cushions that are designed for comfort, it also has a wider seat pitch (34 inches) that provides more legroom. Each seat is fully equipped with 10.6-inch touch-panel monitor, an AC power outlet, USB port, video input as well as accessory holders to cater to all your electronic needs.Premium economy seats are similar. However they boast a seat pitch of 42 inches and an additional large leg rest for greater comfort. The award-winning sky shell seats in the premium economy class provides even greater personal space by offering a specially designed reclining mechanism that ensures the seat in front of you will not infringe into your space when it reclines. If these options are not enough satisfy you, opt for Japan Airline's Sky Suite on board their business class and first class cabins. Payment for your ticket purchase can only be processed via credit cards. The applicable cards include Visa, MasterCard, American Express (accepted in U.S. Dollar payment only), Diners Club, and Discover.
