Sachs Harbour/David Nasogaluak Jr. Saaryuaq Airport is a public-type airport located in Sachs Harbour in the Northwest Territories of Canada. It is a commercial airport operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories, standing at an elevation of 283 feet. It has only one service to Inuvik, as provided by Aklak Air. Technically, the airport can be considered as a general aviation airport, with a small terminal facility, a 4,002-feet gravel runway, and parking provisions. Occasional scheduled services and charters can also be made available from here. At least 60 aircraft movements were recorded from the airport in 2010.

Sachs Harbour is a hamlet located in the Inuvik Region, situated on the south-western coast of Banks Island with only 112 inhabitants as of last count. The traditional name for the area is “Ikahuak”, which means “where you go across to”. The town was named after the ship Mary Sachs, which was part of the Canadian Arctic Expedition of 1913.

The community of Sachs Harbour mainly relies on hunting and trapping, with residents engaging in ice fishing, goose hunting, muskox harvesting, and others. The hamlet is also known for its local tourism offerings, mainly centred in the Aulavik National Park. The Aulavik National Park is a park located on the north end of Banks Island, co-operatively managed by Parks Canada and the Residents of Sachs Harbour and Inuvialuit. The park is of historical significance, for one of a number of ships sent out to the artic became trapped in the ice in the bay for some three years and had to be abandoned by its crew. It also provides a view of a waterway were the fabled North West Passage – a waterway across the top of North America that allows ships from Europe to reach Asia safely – can be found.
