Bergen Airport, Flesland, is a public international airport that serves the city of Bergen in Norway, located at Flesland village in Hordaland county. The airport works as a focus city for Bergen Air Transport, Bristow Norway, CHC Helikopter Service, Fonnafly, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Scandinavian Airlines, and Widerøe. Bergen Airport, Flesland, has one asphalt/concrete runway that measures 2,990 metres or 9,810 feet long. Since 2014, the airport has served approximately six million passengers, with 101,456 aircraft movements. It is the second busiest airport in Norway, after Oslo Airport.

Bergen, a city and municipality on the west coast of Norway, on the Bergen Peninsula, is home to attractions like Bryggen, Troldhaugen, Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene, Bryggens Museum, Ulriken, Bergenhus Fortress, Bergen Museum, Bergen Aquarium, Grieg Hall, Lyse Abbey, and more. Bergen Aquarium on the other hand, is a public aquarium that is known to be among the top tourist attractions in Bergen. Opened to the public as of the mid 1960s, the aquarium has more than 60 tanks of fish, marine invertebrates, seals, penguins, among others. Another remarkable attraction to visit here is the remains of the quays, Bryggen, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bryggen features Hanseatic commercial buildings along the east of the fjord into Bergen.

How to get around within Bergen

When in Bergen, options for travelling around include trains trams and trolleybuses, light rail transit, and taxis. Going by bus is a common way to get around the city, although sometimes the bus schedules can be inconsistent. When in doubt, ask one of the locals or the bus driver to help with the information or for any assistance. It is also possible to call “117” to get connected with the information centre or to drop by an information desk by the bus station. The desk will provide necessary info on all of the local buses and train lines, for no charge. Bus schedules and outline maps are also available online, if needed.

There is a light rail line that goes from the city centre to Lagunen, operated from 6:00AM to 1:00AM, all days of the week, and are approximately 10, 15, to 30 minutes apart. There are also taxis around Bergen albeit these can be expensive. When in need of taxicabs there are a good number of taxi stalls that provide transportation service to customers. Different times of the day also produce different taxi waiting times or even no wait at all. Additionally, the city also has a local commuter train service that serves downtown Bergen and Arna.
