Finding flights from Launceston Airport (LST)

Launceston is one of Tasmania’s largest cities, and the Launceston Airport (LST) is an important transit hub for the city’s residents and visitors. At an easy distance of 15km from the centre of town, passengers planning to depart from Launceston Airport can take shuttle buses or taxis to the departure terminals.

This airport operates overseas domestic transfer flights to mainland Australia, and these flown by Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Qantas and Sharp Airlines.

Popular destinations from Launceston Airport

Launceston Airport (LST) is fantastic for connections onto the mainland, as passengers can book flights to Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL) or Sydney (SYD) three of the country’s most popular cities, and each offering plenty in the way of entertainment, cuisine, culture, and nightlife. Sydney and Melbourne also have the added advantage of being a quick hour to an hour and a half flight away.

However, you’ll find that Brisbane, at only 2 and a half hours of travel time, can be a great getaway destination, especially in the winter. Queensland’s premier city experiences a temperate climate all year around, and its airport can fly you up to the tropical climes of Cairns (CNS) and Darwin (DRW) where you will need a swimsuit no matter what time of year you fly.

International routes are also easy to come by in Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne (MEL), where you can fly to destinations in Asia, North America, Oceania, and find further connecting flights out to the cities of Europe.
