Finding flights from Christchurch International Airport (CHC)

Christchurch is serviced by the Christchurch International Airport (CHC) which is well connected to Australasia, Asia, and the Americas. Passengers can easily traverse the 12km from the city centre to the airport departure terminal by hopping onto the public buses, catching a taxi, or booking a shuttle service.

There are at least 20 direct flights to international and domestic cities, but you can also get on connecting flights through Auckland (AKL) to reach some of the far-flung locations across the world.

Air New Zealand is the major carrier for the country, and usually if you are flying domestically you will be booking with this airline, or one of its subsidiaries. Air New Zealand also runs a lot of the international routes, along with Qantas, Jetstar, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia, China Southern, Emirates, and Fiji Airways.

Popular destinations from Christchurch International Airport

There are a lot of fantastic locations to explore domestically within New Zealand, like the bright lights of Auckland (AKL), the charm of Wellington and its pretty bay, as well as the jaw-dropping beauty of Queenstown (ZQN).

When the winter season gets underway you can escape the chilly weather by flying a mere three to four hours to the always-temperate Gold Coast (OOL) in Australia, or enjoy the colder months in trendy Melbourne (MEL).

Or perhaps spend your days shopping in spectacular Singapore (SIN) where the days are always warm. For the really adventurous, why not consider leaving the southern hemisphere altogether and explore Guangzhou (CAN), one of China’s biggest ports, and famed for its excellent cuisine.
