Flights from Budapest

The atmospheric city of Budapest is also Hungary’s primary hub for exploring destinations outside of its city borders. Peruse all your destination options by popping ‘everywhere’ into Skyscanner’s search bar, and we’ll collect every location that you can fly to from Budapest’s airport.

If you can, we advise being a little flexible when booking, as this can save you quite a bit of money, especially during peak travel seasons. All you need to do is use our calendar feature to browse through a month’s worth of flight rates, and assess which date offers you the best price, or the closest fit with your planned timetable.

Then tailor your results by the airline you’d like to fly with, what time you’d like to leave by, how many layovers you’re willing to undergo, and what flight route you’d prefer. We will make sure you are boarding the right flight for the right price.

The Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is the main airport for the romantic city of Budapest, and is conveniently located 16km out of the city. You can reach the airport easily by bus, shuttle or taxi.

Wizz Air is the primary airline operating from Budapest. However, you can find plenty of flights with other carriers like Lufthansa, easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair, Qatar Airways, EgyptAir, Air China, Aegean Airlines, and KLM.

Popular destinations from Ferenc Liszt International Airport

Because Hungary is so small, the train usually covers all domestic destinations, so you won’t generally use Budapest’s airport as a hub for exploring the country. However, if you’re looking to adventure abroad, you can hop on anything from short mini-flights, to long-haul ones.

Quick trips of an hour or two can see you walking the storied streets of Belgrade (BEG), seeing the gold topped domes of the Orthodox churches in Bucharest (OTP), or discovering the charm of that other Central European beauty, the city of Prague (PRG).

Slightly longer flights, of say three to six hours, can mean sipping an ice cold Guinness along Dublin’s (DUB) River Liffey, touring the archeological museums in Egypt’s Cairo (CAI), or driving around the stirring landscape of Iceland by flying into its capital of Reykjavik (KEF).

Adding on just a few more hours though, can have you seeing an entirely different side of the world, such as the ancient halls, courtyards, and streets of Beijing’s (PEK) Forbidden City, and its remarkable Great Wall of China. Adventure from Budapest is less than a day away.
