Driving around Skopje Airport
Skopje Airport sits on route A1 / E75. This road runs north to Kumanovo and the Serbian border as well as southeast towards Veles Benec. Other major routes easily accessed from the airport include the A2 / E65, which travels west to Skopje and beyond, and the A4 which connects the A1 and A2.

It takes around 22 minutes to drive from Skopje Airport to Skopje city centre, taking route A1 north and then route A2 west. This route is the quickest but there is a toll booth along the way. Alternative routes are available if you’d rather avoid the fee.
There are various parking options around the city centre. Street parking is charged based upon zones with central areas costing more per hour. There are also large car parks with cheaper long stay fees than street spaces.
Skopska Crna Gora
Skopska Crna Gora is a mountain village with lots of medieval churches and monasteries. The area is surrounded by incredible countryside which offers a variety of hiking and cycling opportunities.
Skopska Crna Gora is just under an hour’s drive from Skopje Airport, taking the A2 towards Skopje and then the P2239 north. There are toll booths along the way. Roads leading to the village are mountainous and winding so you’ll need to allow plenty of time for your journey.
Matka Canyon is home to a lake and a hydrodam. It’s a great spot for a summer swim and a picnic. Outdoor activities are also popular here with hiking and kayaking trips available. Visitors can also hire a ferry to visit the Vrelo Cave.
Matka Canyon is 35 minutes’ drive from Skopje Airport, taking route A2. There are toll booths along the way. The canyon is a popular spot with Skopje locals and there’s plenty of parking on site.
