Getting to your destination
Pretty Preveza has managed to stay off the tourist trail so far, although its yacht lined harbour and intense hotel investment suggest that it won’t be a hidden gem much longer.
It takes just over ten minutes to drive to Preveza from the airport. There’s a large car park beside the harbour, and on-street parking is available too. Always pay attention to local signage to make sure you’re not parking in a restricted zone: the last thing you want is for your rental car to be towed away.
One of the most underrated Ionian islands, Lefkada has spades of pristine beaches that wouldn’t look out of place on a paradise postcard.
It takes roughly 55 minutes to drive to Lefkada from the airport. The island is attached to mainland Greece by a bridge, so you don’t have to worry about ferries or tunnels. The availability of parking depends on which part of the island you choose to stay on. There are few regulations in the rural sections of the island, and usually you can leave your car by the side of the road while you enjoy a hike in the woods or an afternoon on the sand.
