Nantes Atlantique Airport is eight kilometres to the southwest of Nantes' city centre. The airport is in the commune of Bouguenais, situated outside the city's peripheral ring motorway, Périphérique de Nantes. The two are linked by a short access road. All the major roads and motorways to and and from Nantes intersect the ring motorway. From the airport, nearby major roads that will lead you to various parts of the region include A11, N249, A83, D723, and N165.
On your way back to the airport, you may be required to return the rental car with a certain level of fuel. A self-service fuel refilling station is located outside the entrance to the rental car return, but you will need to pay with a credit card.
Driving around Nantes Atlantique Airport
There is limited on-street parking in the city centre of Nantes. Pay parking are in two parking zones: the red zone is available from Monday to Sunday between 9:00AM and 7:00PM for a duration of two hours, while the green zone in the area central station is available from Monday to Sunday from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and from 2:00PM to 7:00PM for a duration of three hours. For unlimited parking, your best options are the car parks in the city centre.
Getting to your destination
Guérande is a medieval fortified town, formerly the principal town of the estate owned by dukes of Brittany during the Middle Ages. Aside from the ramparts and the Saint Aubin's Church, other points of interest in Guérande are the salt marshes and the natural park of La Briere. There is also the Athanor Cultural Centre, Samuel Beckette Multimedia Library, and the Cybercenter.
From Nantes Atlantique Airport, take N165 and N171 or D213 to reach Guérande.
Angers is the capital of the province of Anjou. The major landmarks and attractions include Château d'Angers, Maison d'Adam or Adam's House, the Saint-Maurice cathedral, and the belltower Tour Saint-Aubin. From the airport, get on E3 and follow A11. Take the exit toward Centre Ville from D523.
A commune in the Loire-Atlantique département in Pays de la Loire, Clisson is located the confluence of the Sèvre Nantaise river and the Moine. Its most notable attraction is Château de Clisson, a castle on the right bank of the river.
Clisson is accessible via D137, via D59, or via N249.
Le Mans is a French town known for the annual 24h automobile race. Other attractions are the magnificent Saint-Julien Catehdral, Musee de la Reine Berengere Museum, Gallo-Roman Walls, and the Automobile Museum.
To get to Le Mans from Nantes Atlantique Airport, you can either take the route via A11, via A87 and A11, or via A81.
