Where to hire a car at Ipoh Airport
There is one car hire company located at the airport: Kereta Sewa Maju Jaya. Find their desk in the arrivals hall.
Petrol stations near Ipoh Airport
If you select a 'full to full' car rental agreement you will need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There is a Petronas petrol station just off Jalan Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah, about seven minutes drive to the south-east of the airport.
Driving around Ipoh Airport
You'll find yourself on single-carriageway city roads as soon as you leave the airport. The main Jalan Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah road is just a few minutes drive away from the airport. Unless you're already familiar with the city it's a good idea to choose a car hire package that includes a sat-nav system. Traffic in Malaysia drives on the left, just like in the UK, so that's one less thing to worry about.

This charismatic and historic town has a small but dedicated band of devotees. Delicious food and fantastic craft shops make it a fantastic destination for a short break or a longer stay.
It takes about ten minutes to drive into downtown Ipoh from the airport. Some hotels in Ipoh have car parking facilities, although these are more likely to be located on the outskirts of the city. If you're planning on parking on the street or in a car park you will need to buy a coupon from the local agent. You'll be able to recognise them by their council approved ID.
Forget the historic shophouses, people flock to Kampar for one reason: food. The town is well known for its excellent spin on Chinese food, particularly the famous Kampar chicken biscuit.
It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Kampar from Ipoh Airport. There are some public parking lots, all with differing rates.
The city of peace and rain, Taiping is popular with domestic tourists but seems to have escaped the notice of global travellers. Expect lush gardens, delicious street-food, and expertly preserved colonial buildings.
It takes about an hour to drive into downtown Taiping from Ipoh Airport if the traffic is light. Lots of hotels in Tai Ping provide car parking facilities for guests. There are some car parks in the town as well, although you will need to pay to use them.
