There's a petrol station on the E134, about five minutes drive to the north-east of the airport. If you're coming from the south there's a Shell garage ten minutes from the airport, also on the E134.

Driving around Haugesund Airport

The E134 highway (Haugesund to Drammen) passes the airport. The roads are generally quite quiet and well maintained. Most of the roads in Norway have automatic tolls. Make sure your rental car is equipped with an AutoPASS device so you can drive through the tolls without incurring a fine. You will need to pay extra for the device or pay the rental company for the amount of tolls paid. Like most of Europe, traffic in Norway drives on the right-hand side of the road.

Getting to your destination


Nestled in the region known as 'Norway's Birthplace' the small city of Haugesund punches well above its weight. Excellent shopping and a wide array of bars offer plenty of distractions while you're not out and about exploring the region.

It takes about 20 minutes to drive into central Haugesund from the airport. The city is small enough to explore on foot, so you can leave your vehicle in the hotel car park most days.


With its charming wooden houses and annual celebration of coastal culture, Skudefestival, Skudneshavn is an excellent base for exploring the island of Karmoey.

It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Skudneshavn from Haugesund Airport. Most of the hotels in the town have car parking. Most of the white-sand beaches of Karmoey Island also have car parks, and there are plenty of places to leave your car when you start exploring the more rural parts of the island to.


Odda is an ideal base for exploring Folgefonna National Park. The park is famous for its three glaciers and its gorgeous scenery. While you're hiking you might spot some of the park's resident red deer and golden eagles.

It takes about two hours to drive to Odda from Haugesund Airport. Free and paid parking is available throughout the national park. As the area is quite rural, most of the hotels and smaller accommodation options in Odda will have guest parking. It's a good idea to confirm this before you book.
