Girona-Costa Brava Airport is situated 12.5 km (7.8 mi) southwest of the Girona, next to the small village of Vilobí d'Onyar, in the northeast of Catalonia, Spain. It is well connected to the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees. The airport is served by three main roads: E-15/AP-7 toll road (Perpignan, France – south of Spain), C-25 (Lleida – Vic – Girona), and N-II, no-toll road (Madrid – Barcelona – Perpignan, France).
In Girona Airport itself, there are about 3,500 parking spaces available for short- and long-term parking. In addition, the city offers numerous free parking zones (especially at entry points to Girona), paid parking in blue zones, and privately run car parks. Those who have limited mobility have their own dedicated parking and reserved parking spaces. There are also accessible pedestrian signals for the visually impaired.
Getting to your destination
The city of Girona is a mixture of ancient and modern beauty. Girona’s old town is located on the steep hill of the Capuchins to the east of the river Onyar, while the modern section lies on the plains to the west.
The 14th-century Gothic Collegiate Church of Sant Feliu is a notable example in architecture, with its façade that dates back from the 18th century. One of the most popular tourist destinations in Girona and also referred to as Plaça de Sant Agustí, the square has mixed architectural styles, such as 19th-century style, neoclassical, and Noucentisme.
From the airport, get on E-15/AP-7 from N-156, follow E-15/AP-7 to Carrer de Sant Gregori, and take exit 6B from E-15/AP-7. Continue on Carrer de Sant Gregori. Take Avinguda del President Josep Tarradellas i Joan and Carrer del Riu Güell to Gran Via de Jaume I in Girona.
Cases de l'Onyar
The river Onyar is overlooked by several picturesque houses, which gives a Mediterranean feel.
From the airport, get on E-15/AP-7 from N-156, follow E-15/AP-7 to Carrer de Sant Gregori, and take exit 6B from E-15/AP-7. Continue on Carrer de Sant Gregori. Take Rambla de Xavier Cugat, Camí Font de l'Abat/Carrer del Pont de La Barca, Pont de Pedret, and Carrer de la Força to Carrer de les Ballesteries in Girona.
