Zadar Airport

The Zadar Airport (ZAD) is a key facility for this region of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, and can be accessed via buses and taxis. It sits at a distance of 10km from the central part of Zadar city, and so is a convenient travel hub for both travellers and residents of this delightful town. Completed in the 1930s, this airport has been a fixture for the city for a long time, and currently enables 500,000 travellers to reach up to 15 destinations with direct flights each year.

If you’re transiting through this facility, you will find a decent range of amenities. These include communication features like WiFi (accessed through pre-paid vouchers from the airport dining outlets), and payphones. You can take out cash from the available ATMs, and change over any money at the currency exchange booth in the Arrivals Hall.

Hungry flyers will find only a few dining options, a restaurant and a couple of cafes, one with an attached bar where you can enjoy refreshments before, or after your flight. Shopping is surprisingly good too, with a duty-free outlet selling goods like tobacco, alcohol and cosmetics, as well confectionary items, and reading materials.

Ryanair is the main carrier from this port, and almost all flights are operated by this airline, though there are a few routes run by Croatia Airlines.

Travel Information

·         The distance between the city and the airport is around 13km and should take around 20 minutes altogether. Drive onto the D502 to the D424, and then take the Gaženička cesta, which will bring you to the centre of town. International and local car rental agencies operate out of this airport, and you can arrange cars when you arrive, or you can secure a reservation with Skyscanner's search tools.

·         Buses are the main public transportation option and there are regular services that should only take you half an hour of travel time to get into the city. The cost for the fare is 25HRK ($5).

·         Taxis are always available outside the airport, and this is usually the fastest way into town, but is around 220HRK ($42) for the convenience. If you’d like to hire a private transfer, but want to save a little money, look at our airport transfer search tool to find a better deal.
