Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport

The Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), named for the popular former Prime Minister of Canada, is one of the busiest in Canada. This airport serves as the primary gateway for Quebec, and its vibrant city of Montreal. Established in the 1940s, this airport has grown to accommodate the growing number of passengers hoping to see Quebec’s premier city.

Roughly 16.5 million people fly in and out of Montreal’s airport, and you will find that it has all the modern amenities of a premier international facility. There is free WiFi available to you throughout the airport, but don’t worry if you don’t have a mobile device, as you can find stationary internet kiosks too. There are payphones, and a post office for any other communication needs.

You will find foreign exchange services and cash machines scattered around the terminal buildings if you need to take out or change over any money. If you want, you can spend some of that cash in the excellent range of shops that are located in the airport, with duty-free outlets, electronic, cosmetic, luggage, flower, jewellery, and toy stores you can duck into. For food, you will also have a healthy variety to pick from, including coffee bars, pubs, sit down restaurants, fast-food joints, and delis where you can grab a bite to eat. There are information desks and VIP lounges that are also available should you need them.

You can fly to Montreal from Australia with a number of airlines, with the main carriers being Air Canada, Qantas, Delta, American Airlines, Virgin Australia and United.

Travel Information

·         You will find the car rental agencies on the ground floor of the ExpressPark multi-floor car park. You can hire a car with these agencies once you get into Montreal, or you can arrange your rental with Skyscanner online. For downtown Montreal, you need to hop on the 20, then the 720, which will take you right into the downtown area.

·         Buses and shuttles are the main form of public transportation from the airport into town. The former offers a 24/7 express service—Route 747—into the centre of Montreal, which generally takes just over half an hour and costs 9CAD ($9). Whilst the shuttle services are more expensive, they can take you door-to-door. There are several companies operating at the airport, but it will be in your interest to book your airport transfer online and ahead of time for the cheapest deals.

·         Taxis offer a set fare into the downtown area of the city, at 40USD ($40) but will be metered for journeys outside of that area.
