Edmonton International Airport

The Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is one of the largest airports in Canada, and serves the city of Edmonton in the beautiful province of Alberta. There are roughly eight million passengers that fly in and out of this hub, and utilise the direct connections—national and international—you can reach from this port.

As for the airport’s amenities, passengers will be well pleased with what they can find here. Free WiFi is available throughout the airport, and there is a computer station that passengers can use if they do not have a mobile device or phone to connect from. You can also charge your phone at a number of charging areas. For your financial needs, there are lots of cash machines here, as well as several foreign exchange services.

For information, there is a help desk in the Arrivals area, and Airport Ambassadors that are hired to offer passengers advice about the airport itself, transport options, or the city of Edmonton.

Passengers will also be able to choose from a good selection of dining outlets, including wine bars, bistros, sit-down restaurants, snack kiosks, and fast food chains. Shopping is pretty good here too; with a well-stocked Duty-Free section, as well as electronics stores and newsagencies. Extras include childrens’ play areas, a chapel, and gyms that passengers can utilise.

Airlines that operate out of Edmonton International Airport are Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, Alaska, Delta, Sunwing, CMA, United, KLM, Air North, and Icelandair.

Travel Information

·         For those passengers who are keen to hire a car, you can secure one at the airport, or book one well in advance with Skyscanner's search tools. Hop onto the AB-2 N and then onto the Gateway Boulevard, turn right onto the Saskatchewan Dr NW, and follow this road across the river until you get into the downtown.

·         Travelling from the airport to Edmonton Central will involve either taking a bus, a shuttle or a private airport transfer. There is the Route 747, an express bus service that costs 2.50CAD ($2.50) for a single fare, and can take you to Century Park. The shuttles are door-to-door and will come to around 20CAD ($20) per person and are shared ride services.

·         Taxis offer a flat rate into town, but this still comes to 55CAD ($55) for a regular cab. This increases if you choose to take one of the limo services instead.
