 St George Airport

In southwest Queensland is the town of St. George in the Balonne Shire Council. St. George Airport is a small aerodrome that services the 3,800 people that live in the area. This is a tiny facility, operated by the local council, and only has a single 1500 metre runway, so you won’t find any passenger amenities of note within the terminal building.

However, flying into this town will give you a chance to explore Queensland’s cotton country, and give you a taste of Australia’s famous, rugged Outback. Sitting along the Balonne River, many guests come to St. George to take advantage of its excellent fishing, boating and water skiing opportunities.

You will find that Rex Airlines runs regular services to Brisbane (BNE), Toowoomba (WTB), Cunnamulla (CMA) and Thargomindah (XTG). For those wanting to travel further afield, you can connect to other domestic locations around Australia, and international destinations at Brisbane Airport (BNE), which is the largest, and busiest transport hub in Queensland.

It is recommended that you hire a car to explore this part of the country. St. George is considered a true-blue Outback town, so its attractions are usually only accessible by car, such as the Riversands Vineyards, and the unusual crafts store, The Unique Egg, which displays handcarved emu eggs!

Please note all information is current as of March 2016.
