Seattle / Tacoma International Airport

The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is the key facility for the northwestern American city of Seattle. Built during World War Two by the Port of Seattle, this airport has seen expansion as recently as the last ten years, and is consistently updating its facilities to keep up to date with the latest in modern amenities.

This airport is one of the busiest in the United States, with up to 45 million people passing through its gates. You’ll find if you fly into the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), you will be able to access free WiFi, charge your mobile phone device, utilise the post office, and public telephones for any communication needs you may have.

There are bureau de change booths, cash machines, and plenty of shops you can spend your money in. There are bookshops, souvenir stores, and duty-free outlets that you can browse in for all sorts of goods, from your favourite cosmetics, to branded alcohol, and gourmet local food. If you’re feeling hungry, there are fast food and sit-down restaurants, as well as pubs, and of course, the Seattle-staple; coffee bars. In terms of extras, you’ll find information desks, a conference centre, and children’s play areas.

Flights to Seattle from Australia are usually operated by airlines like Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, United, Alaska Airlines, Korean Air, Qantas, and Hawaiian Airlines.

Travel Information

·         The drive into Seattle shouldn’t take more than about 20 minutes. Just hop onto the WA-518 E to the I-5 N, which will take you directly into the city. There is a car hire centre, and there are free shuttles run by the agencies that will take you to this place, and you can organise a rental once you disembark, or arrange one online with Skyscanner.

·         There is a light rail service that runs between the airport and the downtown area, taking roughly 40 minutes, but only costing between 2-4USD ($2.50-5.50). There are also buses that run 24 hours a day, that cost the same, and can take you to a number of different stops within the city.

·         Shuttles also operate at this airport, and they will take you door-to-door, but often these services will wait until the shuttle is full before they proceed. If you’d like to look at your options, or simply have something ready for you when you arrive, then use Skyscanner's airport transfer service.

·         You can hail a cab outside the terminal buildings, but be prepared for the fare to come between 40-50USD ($53-66) to get into downtown Seattle.
