Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, Santiago, Chile

Handling the bulk of the international traffic into Chile, the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport is also commonly known as the Santiago International Airport, due to its location north-west of downtown Santiago. The largest airport in the country handles both domestic and international flights within a single terminal building. Santiago International is also the sole connection point for air travel between Latin America and Oceania.

For travellers in transit or those who wish to stay near the airport, the Holiday Inn Hotel is located right next to the terminal building. The rooms in the hotel come with sound-proof windows to block out airplane noise, and there are other facilities like an indoor swimming pool, wireless internet access, restaurants, and meeting rooms. Alternatively, you could opt for other hotels near the airport, like Hotel Diego de Almagro and Hilton Garden Inn Santiago Airport Hotel. Bookings may be done in advance on the respective hotel websites.

Travellers may engage in some shopping at the airport while waiting for their flights. There are a wide range of retail shops, including international brands, selling things like watches and jewellery, clothing and accessories, local products and handicrafts, cosmetics and so on. Duty-free products are also available at the duty-free outlets. Food and beverages are available at the restaurants, bars and cafes located at the arrival and departure areas. There are some food outlets which open 24-hours a day to cater to travellers arriving from late night or early morning flights.

Other services available at the airport include a nail salon where travellers can get manicures and pedicures, a pharmacy and a dentist. There are lounges at the airport for travellers' use and facilities at these lounges include complimentary food and drink, meeting rooms, telephone and fax machines, televisions, international newspapers and magazines as well as comfortable rest and work areas.
