Marrakech Menara Airport is the second busiest airport in Morocco, after Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. The airport is located close to the city, just 6km south-west of the centre. More than four million people pass through its gates every year on flights from Europe, the Middle East and destinations farther afield.

There are officially two terminals at Marrakech Menara, but these are combined in the same building. Terminals 1 and 2 receive both domestic and international flights from Morocco's national carrier Royal Air Maroc and other airlines such as British Airways, Lufthansa and Qatar Airways.

Whether you're arriving or departing, the airport has plenty of facilities to keep travellers occupied. You'll find essential services like an ATM in Terminal 2 and currency exchange counters in both terminals. You can also buy local souvenirs and duty-free goods at various shops and try Moroccan or international dishes at the restaurants and cafes. If you need to use the internet, you can access Wi-Fi networks by purchasing internet cards from cafes and newsagents.

Driving hide

Parking is available at the airport. Visitors can also opt to rent cars at the arrival area.

Buses hide

Express bus 19 leaves every 30 minutes during the day from outside Terminal 2. The air-conditioned bus travels to Djemaa el-Fna in the old city and costs 30 Dh one-way or 50 Dh return, and it also stops at major hotels along the way.

If you want a cheaper option, you can catch public bus 11 from Avenue Gnassa outside the airport. The one-way trip to Djemaa el-Fna costs 4 Dh.

Taxi hide

Taxis outside the terminal do not use the meter, and prices need to be negotiated in advance. The cost of your journey will depend on your haggling skills and the distance to your Marrakech hotel.

If you want to save money, you can look for taxis in the car park that generally charge less, or leave the airport to find a taxi that uses the meter. The 20-minute ride to the city costs about 15 Dh on the meter, but fixed rates are usually over 60 Dh.
