Port Macquarie Airport

The Port Macquarie Airport (PQQ) on the northeastern coast of New South Wales if the 5th largest regional aviation facility in the state, and this convenient airport services around 230,000 transiting passengers each year. Having been established 60 years ago, the Port Macquarie Airport has undergone a large upgrade making it more suitable than ever to cater to its regular customers. Terminal facilities include an Airport Café and Bar, a cash machine, and car rental counters.

Port Macquarie’s destination list has increased, and now you can expect direct flights to and from Sydney (SYD), Brisbane (BNE), as well as summer services out to the beautiful Lord Howe Island (LDH). If you want to fly onwards to other destinations within Australia, or out to international locations, then you can connect in either Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), or Brisbane Airport (BNE). Travel Information

· You will find five car hire companies within the terminal building, these companies are Thrifty, Hertz, 1st Class Rentals, Budget and Avis, though you can also arrange a rental online with Skyscanner’s search tool. The airport is situated only 5km west of the Port Macquarie CBD and should take you less than 10 minutes total. All you need do when exiting the airport, is head east on Boundary Street, then turn right onto Hastings River Drive which will take you directly into the centre of town.

· Busways operate a bus service (Route 340) but this only runs a few services in the mornings and afternoons Monday through to Friday and does not operate at weekends. However, if the timetable suits you, the fare should run you about $2-5. If it does not suit you, booking an airport transfer online is your next best option.

· There are taxis, limousine and shuttles services that operate at Port Macquarie Airport. They vary in price depending on what vehicle, or how direct you want your journey to be, but usually you’ll find that shuttle transfers are the cheapest, and tend to cost around $10. With taxis this can increase, particularly if you go for a luxury car, but expect the average rate of a nice sedan to come to about $30. You can book these services in advance so they will meet you when you arrive, and you will find a list of the local companies here.
