Paris Orly Airport

The Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) is one of three major airports in the city of Paris, and one of the busiest facilities in the country. This airport is located 14km from the centre of Paris, and has excellent links into the city. Almost 30 million people travel through Orly’s terminals each year, flying to and from over 100 direct destinations to cities within Europe, Africa, North America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

The facilities at Orly are pretty impressive, and passengers can sort out any leftover holiday financial admin they have by using the full-service bank at the West Terminal, the foreign exchange services in the South Terminal, and ATMs throughout the airport. There are communication facilities in the way of free WiFi, and a post office.

There are a good variety of restaurants, cafes, and snack kiosks at Orly, which include local and international cuisine. There is also a bar you can access in the West Terminal, where you can grab a drink before or after you fly. Shoppers can also duck into duty-free outlets, where you can purchase goods like perfume, tobacco, confectionary, fashion accessories, alcohol, and cosmetics.

Extra amenities include a well-stocked business centre, art galleries, a video games arcade, a library, information desks, massage chairs, medical services, and mobile charging stations.

Fly to Paris from Australia with airlines like British Airways, Emirates, Air France, Delta, Malaysia Airlines, TAP Portugal, Qantas, Iberia, Tunisair, Etihad Airways, Thai Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Qatar Airways, China Southern, ANA, and Cathay Pacific.

Travel Information

·         Once you leave the airport, you must get on the A106, and then take the A6A/E5 to Avenue de la Porte d'Orléans. Take the exit toward N20/Porte d'Orléans, and then take Avenue du Général Leclerc and continue on this road into town. You can find plenty of car hire companies within the airport, but you can skip the queues and organise a vehicle online and in advance, and doing so can usually save quite a bit of money.

·         There is a shuttle that can connect you to the rail services that will take you right into the central part of the city, specifically the Gare du Nord. With the shuttle and the RER Train fare, you will have to pay around 12EUR, but the journey should only come to around 30 minutes.

·         Buses also run from the airport into the city, and these are much cheaper at 2EUR ($3), but can take twice as long (up to 60 minutes). If you’d like to take the roadways, you can always book an airport transfer online, which might be preferable if you’re travelling in a group.

·         Trams are a convenient option, with the T7 tram connecting to the subway lines. You can get into Paris in about 40 minutes, for about 2EUR ($3).

·         Taxis run around the clock, but the fares are expensive; expect to pay between 40 and 50EUR ($55-70) for a trip into central Paris.
