New Orleans Louis Armstrong Airport, named after the locally born jazz musician, is located 18 kilometres west of the city centre. It's also known simply as New Orleans International Airport.


Domestic carriers such as American Airlines, Deltaand United connect New Orleans Louis Armstrong with airports all over the United States. The airport uses a single terminal for both international and domestic flights. This terminal is divided into East and West, and flights are grouped by type and airline at four concourses: A, B, C and D.


The construction of a new terminal began in January 2016 and is expected to be complete in October 2018. This new terminal will replace the current concourses A, B and C, which will be demolished. Concourse D will remain in use for charter flights.
