Marseille Airport

The Marseille Provence Airport, formerly known as Marseille-Marignane Airport, is an airport situated on the territory of Marignane in France. It serves the city of Marseille, which is about 17 miles away. It has been under the management of Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1934.

The airport is a minor hub for Air France, and services several other airlines, among which include Aegean Airlines, Air Malta, Alitalia, British Airways, easyJet, Jetairfly, Lufthansa, Pegasus Airlines, Ryanair, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, Twin Jet, Vueling, and XL Airways France. Statistics rank it as the fifth busiest French airport by passenger traffic, and the third largest for cargo traffic.

The airport has four terminals that are only a short walking distance from each other. Terminal 1 and Terminals 3/4, for example, are connected by a corridor. Terminal MP2 is in an adjacent shed. The latter is a relatively new terminal that was built to cater to budget airlines.

Services and Facilities

Marseille Airport is shoppers' paradise when it comes to airport shopping. Products in shops range from cosmetics, perfumes, newspapers, alcoholic drinks, watches, jewellery, toys, tobacco, souvenirs, and so much more! There are also numerous fast food chains, restaurants, cafes, and even automatic vending machines to choose from, such as internationally-known Starbucks, as well as local favourites like Beaudevin, and those that are exclusive to the airport such as CHEFS EN PROVENCE. Fun fact: in the airport is the first Burger King branch in France since 1997. There is wireless internet access in certain areas, namely Boarding lounge Hall 1, 3, and 4, and Hall 4 departures.

The Marseille-Provence Business Center is conveniently located in Hall 4, built to cater to the travelling businessman's needs. This makes conducting business easier for people who arrived in the city for solely business, and can remove the hassle of travelling further into town for a meeting. There are several work spaces available, such as air-conditioned meeting rooms which can accommodate up to 30 people, plus fully-functioning amenities that you might need. There is also a VIP lounge available for a more casual, laid-back setting. Reservations must be made in advance.

The airport staff and crew provide assistance to Persons with Disabilities and reduced mobility. However, it is mandatory for the passenger to reserve their requirement for assistance with the tour operator or the airline the will be flying with at least 48 hours prior to his or her departure.

In addition, Europe's leading company in baggage security, Safe Bag, offers their service at the service baggage deposit. It ensures that your luggage is protected from rain, theft, and other sorts of damages. The currency exchange office can be found on the ground level of Hall 1, and several ATM machines can be found in all the terminals.

Car rental services from the airport are available with approximately seven companies to choose from. However, those with private vehicles may sometimes have difficulty in getting parking space at the airport. It is possible to book airport car parking in advance online. There are also car wash and valet parking services available. As for accommodation, there are hotels near the airport, some of which have airport shuttle services.
