Melbourne Airport

Situated on Florida’s Space Coast, the Orlando Melbourne International Airport services the city of Melbourne, a town renowned throughout the States as the home of the Kennedy Space Centre and the Shuttle Launch Experience. Passengers travelling to and from MLB Airport will discover that it is located a convenient 3km outside of downtown Melbourne, and the district offers excellent transport links between the airport and downtown.

There is only one main terminal at Orlando Melbourne International, but it offers transiting passengers access to ATMs, free wireless internet, and pet relief areas for those travelling with pets.

If you’re hungry pre or post-flight you can dine at The Runway Grille which is located before security in the atrium area. This restaurant serves both hot and cold meals, and is open 6:00am-7:00pm. The Runway Grille also sells reading materials and toiletries if you need to pick up any last minute items. After the security point you will find the Gate 1 Bar and Café. Operating hours are 6:00am-5:00pm and you can relax with a snack or a drink before boarding your flight.

If you have some time to kill before your journey, there is a fascinating airport museum which charts MLB’s history from its inception as a Naval Air Station in World War II.

Please note all information is current as of March 2016.

Getting to & from the Airport

Driving hide

There are rental car companies that operate out of MLB, and these are Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National, Alamo, Thrifty and Hertz. To get into Downtown Melbourne you can take the U.S.

Highway 1 directly into the city centre. Or if you feel uncomfortable driving on the highway, you can join W Nasa Blvd, turn right onto S Babcock Street, then turn left onto E Hibiscus Blvd.

Buses hide

There are public buses run by the Space Coast Area Transit (SCAT) that operate a route to and from MLB. Take the 26 bus towards Loop, and you will be taken directly into central Melbourne.

Be aware that the bus ride tends to be longer than a car journey—about 20-25 minutes—but taking mass transit is the cheapest way into the city centre, with a ticket into town costing a cheerful 1.50 ($2.10).

Taxi hide

There are taxi and limousine services available outside of the arrivals area of the terminal building that offer rides into Melbourne. Taking a cab to the city centre should take 10 minutes if traffic is fairly thin, and cost around about 15USD ($21). There are also shuttle services, which can be cheaper if you are travelling in a group larger than four people.
