London Luton Airport

The city of London is served by five international airports, and Luton Airport (LTN) is one of them. This airport is situated in the north of the city, roughly 50km from the city centre. Despite being one of the smaller international airports, this hub still offers over 100 direct destinations across Europe, and sees around 14 million people transiting through its main terminal annually.

Passengers are well catered to here too, with plenty of ATMs, and several bureau de change services, public telephones, a post office, and free WiFi for the first half an hour. There is also an executive lounge, which offers complimentary refreshments, and unlimited free WiFi.

The dining here comes with a good sized food court before security, as well as a number of sit-down restaurants, cafes, snack kiosks, coffee chains, and bars you can take advantage of. The shopping here is also a pleasant surprise, with travel and fashion accessory stores, lingerie shops, gift shops, a few fashion brands, duty-free shopping, and a MAC makeup counter.

This airport is a major hub for easyJet, and most flights will be operated by this airline, however, there are lots of flights run by Wizz Air, Ryanair, Blue Air, Vueling, and Transavia.

Travel Information

·         At over 50km from the city centre the drive will take you roughly an hour of driving time, though the route is very straightforward. Simply take the M1, until you see the A5, and you will come right into the centre of London. Though you can rent a vehicle from agencies within the airport when you land, it is usually easier to save money by booking your favoured car online and in advance.

·         There are rail services that you can connect to via a shuttle bus service, which will cost 1.60GBP ($2.60) for the bus, and then a further 9-28GBP ($16-46) for the train journey. Altogether, expect the journey to come to around 30-40 minutes.

·         Buses and coach services also link the city and the airport, and these can take about two hours, and costs around 15GBP ($24).

·         Taxis are always pretty expensive in London, but they are always available. Expect to pay upwards of 70GBP ($114) and take an hour into town. If the price is a little too steep, there are a lot of options available with private airport transfers that you can book through Skyscanner.
