Brief Introduction to the Airport

The Lombok international Airport is a new airport established in the island of Lombok in Indonesia. It is the island's only fully operational airport operated by PT Angkasa Pura I, a state enterprise of the Indonesian Department of Transport which is responsible for managing the airports in Indonesia. The new airport replaced the Selaparang Airport, the island's previous operational airport located in Ampenan near Mataram. The latter was closed on September 2011 while the former was opened on October 2011. The first aircraft landing to the airport was a Garuda Indonesia Boeing 737-800, marking the commencement of operations. The airport was officially inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The airport has an elevation of 319 feet, an asphalt runway measuring 9,000 feet, and an apron measuring 2,074 square metres with two exit taxiways.

The airport has a main terminal divided into two designated sections for International and Domestic Flights. The International 'division' serves flights going to Malaysia and Singapore, while the Domestic 'division' serves various cities in Malaysia, including Bali, Jakarta, Makasar, Bima, and many others. Airlines that travel to the airport include Air Asia, Citilink, Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, SilkAir, Wings Air, and many others.

Services and facilities for the airport include car and bus parking areas, cargo handling facilities, fuelling facilities, visiting aircraft hangars, customs and immigration facilities, a health and sanitation office, and security services. The airport also has ATM/Bank, money changers, snack bars, a food court, coffee shops, reflexology and massage therapy areas, fashion outlets, a bookstore, an art shop, and a souvenir shop. Travellers may also reserve or book hotel rooms through the airport.

Driving hide 

From Mataram, head south on Jl. Subak IV. Take Jl. Raya Lembar, Jl. By Pass Bandara Int. Lombok, and Jl. Raya Mandalika to Jl. Bandara Int. Lombok. Continue onto Jl. Bandara Int. Lombok to the airport.

Trains hide 

The airport is not served by rail connections and there are none available on the island.

Buses hide 

DAMRI provide a public airport shuttle service between the airport and the Terminal Mandalika or the city bus terminal, on the eastern outskirts of Mataram and on to the west coast at Senggigi. The public bus service uses a dedicated fleet of modern air-conditioned buses and provides a scheduled service for set fees.

Taxi hide 

The airport taxi service is now supplemented by metered taxis provided by Bluebird Taxi and Express Taxi.
