Larnaca Airport

Larnaca International Airport is an international airport, serving the city of Larnaca on the southern coast of the Republic of Cyprus, an island country in the Mediterranean. The airport is situated about 4 km southwest of the city. It serves as the main international gateway of Cyprus, as well as the larger of the country's two public airports (the other is Paphos International Airport, in the city of Paphos). Larnaca International Airport is operated by Hermes Airports Ltd and serves as a hub for Cyprus Airways. The site on which Larnaca Airport was built was formerly an airfield in the 1930s, and then used as a military installation by the British Forces. On February 1975, the airport was opened to the public, who often use it as a hub for travelling between Europe and the Middle East.

Larnaca Airport has one primary passenger terminal; the arrivals hall is on the ground level, while the departures hall is on the upper level. The terminal building covers an area of 100,000 square km, with the capacity to serve 7.5 million passengers per year. The premise has 67 Check-in counters, 8 Self Check-in kiosks, 7 Security Screening positions, 14 Ticketing positions, 21 Boarding gates, and 5 Baggage Claim carousels. There is also a VIP Terminal, used only for important persons such as visiting Heads of State, private aviation, and for cargo.

Services and Facilities

The Larnaca International Airport has 3,700 square km of space for retail, in addition to food and beverage facilities. Choose from over 50 international brands of perfumes and cosmetics, priced lower than those that can be found in the domestic market. Lovers of spirits have the option to choose from the collections at the Kellari Wine Cellar and Uisge Beatha Malt Whisky boutique. Additionally, there is an electronic shop that features the leading brands in technology, and a souvenir shop called the Kypriaka (meaning ‘products of Cyprus’) where travellers can find something unique to keep as a reminder of their trip or to bring home to loved ones. As for food and drinks, there are restaurants, bars, and cafes available, some of which are open all day every day. Fast food and Grab & Go outlets provide quick and convenient solutions to your food needs.

VIP lounges in the Larnaka Airport are the Swissport Executive Lounge and the Aegean Business Lounge. The former is a pay-per-visit lounge for passengers, operated by the Swissport ground handling company. The Swissport Executive Lounge has an area of 650 square metres, with a capacity for 190 people. It has a dining and reading area, a small children's corner, a business centre with four computer stations, a conference room, an exterior terrace, and a smoking area. The lounge also provides Wi-Fi and Internet access, access to persons with disability, and two televisions. The lounge is open twenty-four hours a day. The Aegean Business Lounge on the other hand is for Aegean business class passengers and cardholders of Miles & Bonus Gold and Star Alliance Gold. There are three computers with internet connection and a well-stocked buffet. The schedule for operating hours can be found in the airport's website.
