Latrobe Airport

Servicing the city of Latrobe in Pennsylvania, and located about an hour’s drive from the second largest city in the state, Pittsburgh, the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport sees a fair amount of passengers pass through its gates each year. Starting as a mere flying field in the 1920s, Latrobe Airport grew and became the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in 1999 in honour of the legendary golf player that grew up a mile from the airport. Arnold Palmer even learned to fly himself!

The main airline operating out of LBE Airport is Spirit Airlines which runs flights down to sunny Florida, including destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and seasonal destinations of Fort Myers, Tampa, and South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach.

There is only one main terminal at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport, which frequently displays artwork by local artists, and also houses a lovely restaurant called DeNunzio’s Chophouse, where you can have a meal before you jet off to your next destination.

Other amenities include a flight instruction school called Westmoreland Aviation, and a travel agency called Run Away Travel. There are banquet and conference facilities should you want to organise an event at LBE, and the parking is free.

Please note all information is current as of March 2016.

To get into the charming city of Latrobe, it shouldn’t take you any longer than about 15 minutes if the roads are clear of traffic.  All you need do is clear the airport drive and then hop onto the PA-981, which turns into Lincoln Avenue, and that road will take you directly into town.

If you’re planning on visiting the storied city of Pittsburgh, and want to avoid the tolls, then you just follow PA-981 to the US-119 S/US-22 W, and stay on this until you see the I-376 W. The journey should take about an hour all told.
