 Innsbruck Airport

Gorgeous Innsbruck, set in the lofty Tyrol region of western Austria, is served by the Innsbruck Airport (INN). This hub is one of the largest airports in the country, seeing one million passengers travel through its gates. It is one of the most popular destinations in Austria, and as an added bonus offers five non-stop international routes and one domestic one from its airport.

This is a single terminal airport, located only 5km from the centre of town, with amenities that will cover most of your flying needs. These include an information desk, an ATM where you can take out the local currency, free WiFi, and meeting rooms you can rent.

The food concessions include a bakery serving cakes and sandwiches, a café serving hot and cold drinks, and a restaurant where you can relax with a hot meal. There is one airport shop, which sells duty-free products, plus reading materials, gifts, souvenirs, travel accessories and confectionary.

Flying to Innsbruck will undoubtedly involve a layover or two, but you can fly with a number of airlines, which include Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern, Korean Air, and Etihad.

Travel Information

·         You can hire a car at the airport, as there are several car rental agencies there, but it may be in your best interests to book your car online, and compare all their rates to get the best deal. To get to the city, take Dreiheiligenstraße to Universitätsstraße, and continue on Universitätsstraße, and then take Herzog-Otto-Straße/B171 and Höttinger Au to Fürstenweg, and then turn right on Fürstenweg.

·         Buses connect the airport to the city; all you need do is look for UVB Route F. This bus comes every 15 minutes, with the average travel time being 20 minutes and the fare coming to 2EUR ($3) per person.

·         Taking a taxi from the airport is easy, as there is a rank just outside the airport. The journey in should only take you 15 minutes, and cost 15EUR ($22). If you’d rather not take a taxi, Skyscanner can also help you book cheaper airport transfers.
