Seoul Incheon International Airport

Incheon International Airport is a public airport that is owned by the Government of the Republic of Korea and operated by Incheon International Airport Corporation. Serving Seoul Metro Area, the airport is located in Jung District in Incheon, 48 kilometres or 30 miles west of Seoul, on a manmade island between Yeongjong and Yongyu islands. Incheon International Airport is the largest airport in South Korea and is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. It also serves as a gateway for international traffic, passenger and cargo, in East Asia. Notably, average departure and arrival processes in the airport only takes about 19 minutes and 12 minutes, respectively, compared to 60 minutes and 45 minutes worldwide industry standards, making Incheon International Airport one of the fastest airports in the world in terms of customs processing. The airport serves as the main hub for Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Jeju Air, as well as a hub for Eastar Jet and Jin Air.


Incheon International Airport consists of a main passenger terminal building and a concourse. The main passenger terminal building is known as the largest airport terminal in South Korea, at 594,000 square metres. The terminal houses 44 boarding ports, 50 customs inspection ports, two biological quarantine counters, six stationary and 14 portable passenger quarantine counters, 120 arrival passport inspection counters, eight arrival security ports, 28 departure security ports, 252 check-in counters, and 120 departure inspection counters. All domestic flights use the main terminal.

The passenger concourse (Concourse A) is used by foreign carriers and is connected to the main terminal by two parallel underground passageways with Intra Airport Transit. Concourse A has 30 gates and six lounges, operated each by Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, and China Eastern Airlines.

Shilla Duty Free stores are located both in the main terminal and in Concourse A, and mainly offer goods like perfume, cosmetics, apparel, leather goods, accessories, sunglasses, souvenirs, gifts, and electronics. Shilla Duty Free in the main terminal is located in the duty-free area on the third floor, near Departure Hall 3; while Shilla Duty Free in Concourse A is located in the duty-free area in the departure area of the third floor. There is also the Lotte Duty Free store located in the duty-free area of the main terminal, on the third floor near Departure Hall 2. It sells apparel, handbags, leather goods, watches, sunglasses, liquor, and food. Lotte Duty Free can also be found in the duty-free area of Concourse A. Additionally, the main terminal building also has Duty Free Korea.

The public areas in Incheon International Airport, located on the first and third floors of the main terminal building, also have a retail space with a wide variety of stores that sell cosmetics and perfumes, fashion and accessories, packaged food, electronics, and specialty items. The public areas, as well as the Transportation Centre, also house convenience stores and bookshops, as well as gift and souvenir stores. Restaurants, food courts, fast food and snacks, and cafes, meanwhile, can be found on the public spaces in the first, third, and fourth floor of the terminal, as well as in the duty-free area and in the Transportation Centre.

Driving hide 

Incheon International Airport is accessible from the city proper via the toll Yeongjong Bridge and the Incheon International Airport Expressway (Expressway 130). There is also a second expressway on the Incheon Bridge that connects the island with central Incheon.
