Tokyo Haneda Airport

Tokyo International Airport, also known as Haneda Airport or Tokyo Haneda Airport, is a major airport in Japan. It is one of the two primary airports serving the Greater Tokyo Area, the other being Narita International Airport. Haneda Airport is located in Ōta, Tokyo.

The airport is the main base for the two major domestic airlines of Japan, Japan Airlines, and All Nippon Airways. It also serves as a hub for Skymark Airlines, Air Do, and Solaseed Air. The facility resides at an elevation of 21 feet (six metres) above mean sea level and is served by four runways: 16R/34L, 16L/34R, 04/22, and 05/23. All runways are paved, with asphalt concrete surface.


Tokyo International Airport has three terminals: two domestic passenger terminals 1 and 2, and a smaller international passenger terminal.

Terminal 1, called Big Bird, is the airport's largest terminal. There is an Information Center on the first floor of Terminal 1 providing general information. There are information desks all over the first and second floors of Terminal 1 for various purposes, including travel insurance, Kansai round trip tickets, one-day parking tickets, bus tickets, hotel reservations, inclusive tours, fax/copy service, railway tickets, and others. The information desks on Terminal 2 are also located on the first and second floors. Each one provides various service such as domestic and international travel insurance, wheel chair and baby carriage rental, car hire, hotel reservation, bus tickets, limousine car service, JR railway tickets, monorail tickets, and others.

The information counters in the international terminal are located on the first, second, and third floors of the building. These provide information regarding flights and terminal service facilities, such as wheelchair, stroller, and baby carriage rental services, and others.

Services and Facilities

The International Terminal contains 44 restaurants, 31 shops, and 29 duty-free shops. Restaurants to choose from include Cafe 108, Ginza Kimuraya, Hokkaido Kitchen, Planetarium Starry Cafe, Takafuku, Yoshinoya, Rokurinsha, Esse Due il Binario, and True Soup. The shops in the international terminal sell apparel, medicine and travel goods, books, and miscellaneous goods. Shops include Books & Drugs North, Design Japan Culture Store, Hello Kitty Japan, Modern Pets Store, MONO, and Maker's Shirt Kamakura. Travellers who were unable to bring enough cash need not worry, as there is a bank on the first floor, as well as ATMs and currency exchange services. The terminal also offers free wireless Internet access, an Internet PC station, and desks for those with laptops. Mobile phones can be rented at the airport as well. Those travelling with children can rent stroller and baby carriages, and there are nurseries that even male visitors can enter (except for the nursing booths). Diaper changing tables can be found in the multipurpose toilets and baby nurseries, as well as baby chairs. There is a play area called Kids' Corner in the arrival concourse, after passport control.

Services and facilities available at the domestic terminals include ATM, Currency exchange, baggage storage, post office, clinic, and dental clinic. Car hire operators represented at the terminals include Nippon Rent A Car, Nissan Rent A Car, Times Car RENTAL, Toyota Rent A Car, Nissan Rent A Car, and ORIX Rent-A-Car. The domestic terminals also have a barber shop, beauty and nail salon, and quick massage and relaxation areas. At the centre section of Terminal 1 is a six-story restaurant, the shopping area, conference rooms, and a large rooftop observation deck and cafe. Terminal 2 has an open-air rooftop restaurant, a six-story shopping area that has restaurants, and the Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu, with 387 rooms.
