 Brief Introduction to the Airport

Gachsaran Airport is an airport serving the city of Gachsaran, also called as Dogonbadan, the capital of Gachsaran County, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in Iran. Gachsaran Airport has one asphalt runway with a direction of 13/31, with a length of 2,000 metres or 6,562 feet. Gachsaran Airport is located approximately 4.1km from Gachsaran city centre.

Gachsaran is known to be an oil and gas producing city, deemed to have the largest gas reserves in Iran that only started to expand. Gachsaran is home to approximately 81,902 inhabitants, or about 18,264 families. It was also established that the area is popular to some British residents that own homes and vast lands not very far from the outskirts of the city.

Outside the city limits, the airport’s location in the Gachsaran County can be likened to that of a desolated land. Iran Aseman Airlines used to serviced Gachsaran Airport and flies to Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, the vibrant capital of Iran. However, no flight activities have been recorded for Gachsaran Airport, and Mehrabad International Airport has been replaced by Iman Khomeini International Airport in most of its international flights. Today, Mehrabad Airport is now a joint public/military airport.

If you want to experience state-of-the-art facilities while waiting for your next adventure out of Iran, you can directly head to the Shiraz International Airport, which is approximately 191km away from Gachsaran. Another international airport would be Iman Khomeni International Airport, which serves the vibrant capital city of Tehran approximately 913km away from Gachsaran.
