Durban King Shaka International Airport

The lovely seaside city of Durban is one of South Africa’s most important cities, and is served by the Durban King Shaka International Airport (DUR).  The main airport was known as the Durban International Airport and opened its terminal gates for the first time in 1951, however, it was unable to handle international traffic, and was relocated and renamed in 2010. Now, the King Shaka International Airport (DUR) welcomes in five million passengers a year, who can choose from 16 direct destinations and many more connecting routes, making this one of the country’s most prominent hubs.

This airport supplies travellers with all the standard amenities for comfortable transit. In terms of communication, you can access the WiFi free for 30 minutes if you need to arrange any travel details or get in contact with friends or family.

The airport also covers dining and shopping well. There are a good range of restaurants, bars and cafes, and these serve a variety of cuisines, both local and international. The shops scattered throughout the terminal offer souvenirs, reading materials, confectionary and duty-free items.

Other amenities include ATMs, and a bureau de change service at the bank that passengers can utilise at the airport, as well as a pharmacy, medical centre, prayer room, and a South African Airways executive lounge.
