Casablanca Mohamed V. Airport

The Casablanca Mohammed V Airport (CMN) is the most important international aviation hub in Morocco, handling the most traffic into the country. It sees well over eight million people a year flying into this facility. Operating since the 1940s, the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport offers over 90 direct destinations to cities all over Africa, the Middle East, Europe and North America.

There are two main terminals at this airport, with Terminal 1 undergoing a renovation due to be completed in 2017. Terminals 1 and 2 function as international and domestic hubs, and Terminal 3 is rarely used.

There are very good banking facilities in this airport, with ATMs and currency exchange services. There is WiFi access, but these are only available in the lounges, though you may access this service free of charge if you purchase a pass or a drink within the lounges.

For food, there are plenty of local and international options to choose from, such as restaurants, cafes, and snack kiosks. The shopping here is also pretty decent, with a variety of duty-free outlets selling alcohol, cosmetics, tobacco, fragrances and gourmet goods. Other features of this airport include a small business centre, and a medical service you can access if need be.

Morocco is very well connected to the world, and departing Australia on flights to Casablanca can be done with carriers like Qatar Airways, Air France, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, Egypt Air, Royal Air Maroc, Lufthansa, Qantas, Air Canada, and many more.

Travel Information

·         If you choose to drive, get onto the A7 and continue on this road until you can take the N11 to the A3 to get into the centre of town. The drive is 35km distance wise, and the time of arrival will depend on the traffic conditions. Car hire companies of well-respected brands like Avis, National, and Thrifty operate desks within the airport, and you can secure a car when you land, or you can forego the line and book your vehicle using our search tool in advance of your trip.

·         There is a regular rail service into the city, which is often considered to be the most convenient and comfortable way into the city. The journey should take you about 45 minutes in total, with a one-way fare coming to about 30MAD ($4). You can grab buses too, but this is a longer journey time, and if you are thinking of travelling by road, it may be faster and easier to book an airport transfer.

·         Taxis are the most expensive way to travel, but you don’t have to wait on any specific departure times, and they run 24/7. Expect a journey to cost you about 300MAD ($39).
